Surveillance Cameras
A lot of homes and businesses are turning to the use of surveillance cameras for their security needs. These sytems give the owner a complete visual record of everything that happens in and around their target area.
When looking for system, you'll need to consider whether or not the cameras need to be waterproof for outdoor applications, have night vision for dark areas or night time viewing, and if they are wired or wireless systems.
Wired surveillance cameras have a cable that goes from the camera to your recording device. Wireless systems trnasmit the video signal through the air to a receiver. It is the receiver that is connected to the recorder.
You can get low light versions which can see in the dark or regular ones for recording during the day. Some cameras have both capabilities and automatically switch from color to the low light black and white versions when the ambient light is not enough to give a good clear picture in color mode. For most applications, these types of day/night surveillance cameras are most appropriate.
Special attention should also be given the the type of recording device you use. The old VCR is pretty much outdated and are even hard to find. DVRs are now the norm and offer a lot more capability. Most of them now come with motion activated software which eliminates you recording for no active parts of the day or night. Motion activation will only record when there is something to record.
Some Digital Video Recorders will also allow you to connect your system to the internet so you can view what the camera sees from anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection. This is ideal for the business owener that works from home or is away on business and can not be there to supervise the office or warehouse.
Parents find this useful also so they can watch their children while at work and see how the their children are being taken care of. Parents can also use hidden cameras to record what happens at home. These self contained nanny cams set up anywhere is the home are secretly record all activity.
There are many uses for surveillance cameras including restaurants, retail shops, child care centers, warehouses, private investigators, animal kennels, boats, your home, vacation homes, construction sites and offices. Pretty much any store or warehouse.
